Ho Chi Minh City invests $9.5 billion in infrastructure

Ho Chi Minh City is implementing 16 key infrastructure projects with a total investment of $9.5 billion. These projects, aimed for completion or inauguration around the upcoming National Day on September 2, are expected to boost the local economy, unlock immobilized capital, and expand development space in the southern economic hub.

The city reported a regional GDP growth of 8.55% year-on-year in the first half of 2026. To reach the government's double-digit growth target, significant acceleration is required in the second half of the year, especially as traditional drivers like domestic consumption and exports face pressure from rising material costs and market fluctuations.

In the tourism sector, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism is working to strengthen regional links through survey programs in provinces such as Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Quang Ngai. These efforts aim to create interregional itineraries that combine sightseeing with cultural and agricultural experiences.

Other regional developments include the launch of a new train service linking Hue to central Vietnam heritage sites and the Dak Lak Durian Festival, which seeks to elevate the global reputation of Vietnamese agricultural products.
