Southeast Asia faces flooding and infrastructure hazards
Heavy rainfall and flooding are causing significant disruptions across Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand and Vietnam.
In Bangkok, prolonged heavy rain has led to deep flooding in many districts, prompting Governor Chadchart Sittipunt to expand the disaster-affected area to all 50 districts. The weather has paralyzed the entertainment industry, forcing the postponement or cancellation of numerous music events, fan meetings, and film productions to ensure the safety of artists and crews.
In Vietnam, severe weather and infrastructure issues are creating hazards for commuters. In Ho Chi Minh City, unfinished drainage and road construction projects on Nguyen Huu Tho Street and in Lam Van Ben Alley have left debris, open pits, and muddy surfaces, posing risks to motorists. In Dak Lak province, heavy rains have caused deep flooding in residential areas and urban streets, with fast-moving water sweeping away motorcycles. Additionally, significant road damage and deep potholes have been reported on National Highway 1 in Binh Thuan, forcing residents to use makeshift markers to warn drivers of the hazards.
