Ho Chi Minh City FDI reaches 17.2 billion USD amid tech shift

Ho Chi Minh City has seen a significant surge in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), with total registered capital reaching 17.225 billion USD as of September 19, 2026. This figure represents a 4.19-fold increase compared to the same period in 2025 and has already exceeded 56.6% of the city's annual 11 billion USD target.

Key large-scale projects driving this trend include the Can Gio International Transshipment Port, with an investment exceeding 4.9 billion USD, and the AI Factory Data Center, valued at approximately 2.1 billion USD.

In the High-Tech Park, the Evolution wholesale hyperscale data center project emerged as a major new FDI project with 508.785 million USD in registered capital. Authorities indicate that the city expects total annual FDI to reach approximately 19 billion USD, reflecting a strategic move to foster technological capacity and integration with domestic enterprises.
