Ho Chi Minh City hosts major cultural events marking 50 years of Saigon‑Gia Định

On 12 June, the City Arts Centre staged a large‑scale performance titled “Mơ Show” at the newly built Phú Thọ Multipurpose Arena. The show combined circus, puppetry, contemporary music and modern stage technology, involving about 150 performers from local circus and puppetry schools. The event was overseen by city officials including Deputy Party Secretary Nguyễn Phước Lộc and Vice‑Chairman of the People’s Committee Nguyễn Mạnh Cường.

The following night, 13 June, a gala called “Tổ quốc bình yên” was held on Nguyen Hue walking‑street. Organized jointly by the Ministry of Public Security and the Ho Chi Minh City government, the program commemorated the 80th anniversary of the People’s Security Forces and the city’s 50th anniversary. It featured large‑scale musical and dance numbers, circus acts, historic reenactments and a concluding chorus performed by singers Hồng Nhung, Quốc Thiên, Phương Vy and a university choir. Despite heavy rain, the audience of thousands remained, and the event was attended by senior party and security leaders such as Nguyen Van Nên and Lieutenant‑General Phạm Thế Tùng.
