Ho Chi Minh City initiates green transport and infrastructure upgrades
Ho Chi Minh City is advancing urban development and sustainability through new infrastructure projects and green energy initiatives. In Xuan Hoa Ward, authorities have launched a 9.5 billion VND project to renovate 10 alleys totaling nearly 1.7 km. The project includes resurfacing roads and replacing drainage systems to improve local transport safety and environmental hygiene.
Simultaneously, the city's Department of Construction has announced a transition toward sustainable transport to meet net-zero emission goals by 2050. A key target is for all civil servants and public officials in the city to switch to green energy vehicles, such as electric cars and motorcycles, by January 1, 2030. This initiative aims to address air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in a city where motorcycles account for 90% of the 12.8 million vehicles in use.
