Ho Chi Minh City launches free restoration of martyrs' photos

The Ho Chi Minh City Command and city police have begun a free program to restore and digitise photographs of Vietnam’s war martyrs for their families and descendants. The initiative, carried out by 20 volunteers from the TeamLee photo‑restoration group, accepts damaged or faded images and returns restored digital files and printed copies at no cost.

The service is part of Plan 4027/KH‑BCĐ and the broader "500‑day night" campaign to locate, exhume and identify the remains of martyrs ahead of the 80th anniversary of the national War Invalids and Martyrs Day (27 July 2027). Since the campaign began, authorities have recovered 49 individual sets of remains and one collective burial, the largest single‑day find to date. Restored photos are intended to preserve the memory of the heroes, support the tradition of "Uống nước nhớ nguồn" (remembering one’s origins), and reinforce patriotic education for future generations.
