Ho Chi Minh City launches green‑product program to boost sustainable consumption
Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Industry and Trade is promoting greener products and consumption by offering financial incentives and support for businesses adopting environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards. Initiatives include the “Tick Verde de Responsabilidade” label, which tracks product traceability, reduces plastic waste, encourages eco‑friendly packaging and energy savings in supermarkets and markets. More than 12 major retailers and over 70 % of fresh‑produce suppliers have joined, with 5,400 products registered and 4,900 already meeting the green‑label criteria.
The city plans to expand transparent supply chains, modern logistics, and lower price gaps between green and conventional goods, aiming to make sustainable products a routine choice for consumers.
