Ho Chi Minh City museums launch night‑time cultural programmes

The Museum of Ho Chi Minh City and the Museum of Fine Arts are piloting a series of after‑dark events called “Museum Moon,” held on full‑moon nights. Activities include live traditional music, tea‑tasting sessions with master Ngo Thi Thanh Tam, fashion shows, and performances of đờn ca tài tử, hát bội, múa bóng rỗi and vọng cổ. The programmes aim to attract residents and tourists who are free in the evenings, boost the night‑time economy and turn museums into interactive cultural spaces.

The initiative is part of the city’s “Heritage Connection” week honoring 50 years since the city was named after Ho Chi Minh. Museum director Doan Thi Trang and programme director Binh Hùng said the goal is to “connect heritage and bring Southern cultural forms closer to the public, especially young people,” and to encourage repeat visits through immersive experiences such as traditional craft workshops.

Officials plan to develop distinctive cultural products from successful models, expand the frequency of events, and integrate museums more fully into the city’s cultural‑industry landscape.
