Ho Chi Minh City plans urban renovation for Ma Lang and Cho Ga - Gao areas

Ho Chi Minh City is developing a compensation, support, and resettlement plan for the urban renovation of two long-standing residential areas: Ma Lang and Cho Ga - Gao. The project, expected to be implemented between 2026 and 2029, has a preliminary total budget of over 16,300 billion VND and will affect approximately 1,651 households in the city center.

In the Cho Ga - Gao area, which involves the recovery of about 4,350 square meters of land, draft compensation rates for urban residential land adjacent to Yersin Street are projected to reach nearly 610 million VND/m². Other high-value areas include Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, with rates near 422 million VND/m², and Vo Van Kiet Street, exceeding 389 million VND/m². The total estimated compensation and support cost for the Cho Ga - Gao area alone is over 1,390 billion VND.

Actual compensation amounts will be determined based on legal records, land origin, and physical inspections. The plan includes various support measures to assist residents with relocation. Approximately 249 eligible households will be provided with resettlement options, including social housing apartments and low-rise housing.
