Vietnam develops economic valuation project for World Heritage sites

Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is developing a project to economically value its World Heritage sites. Led by Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong, the initiative aims to quantify the Total Economic Value (TEV) of the nation's nine UNESCO-recognized heritage sites. This approach views heritage as cultural, natural, and social capital capable of driving long-term economic, social, and environmental benefits.

In Ho Chi Minh City, efforts are also underway to link the film industry with cultural heritage and tourism. A recent seminar focused on Ho Chi Minh City's role as a UNESCO Creative City of Film, using the historical film project ‘Ho Linh Trang Si’ as a case study. Experts discussed the challenges of using contemporary cinema to preserve and promote historical values, architecture, and customs to a modern audience.
