Ho Chi Minh City pushes forward smart data platform and major highway upgrades

Ho Chi Minh City is accelerating its smart city agenda by building a common data warehouse and modern digital infrastructure. By mid‑2026 the city completed 18 of 34 priority digital‑transformation tasks, digitising over 15 million household records, 13 million insurance records and linking 5.7 million land‑use entries to a national database. An AI platform and smart operations centre now integrate data for real‑time monitoring of traffic, public safety and urban services, with online procedure completion at 97.5% and citizen satisfaction above 96%.

In parallel, the city is expanding its regional highway network. The My Thuận project has submitted a feasibility amendment to widen the Nhơn Trạch bridge to 19.75 m and increase the Vành đai 3 corridor to eight lanes, adding ITS and ETC systems. Construction is slated for late 2026 – early 2027 with full completion targeted for 2028. Additional projects include the Cát Lái bridge, the eight‑lane Phú Mỹ 2 link (estimated VND 9 trillion, start Q2 2026) and the Đồng Nai 2 connector, all aimed at strengthening logistics between Ho Chi Minh City, Long Thành airport and deep‑water ports.
