Ho Chi Minh City pushes forward urban development with new science‑city housing and city‑wide sidewalk‑fee app

The northern part of Ho Chi Minh City is being transformed into a Science‑Technology City, centered on the Bình Dương and Vĩnh Tân wards. The area is attracting thousands of foreign experts, software engineers and senior managers, prompting demand for high‑end residential projects such as Sun Casa Square, which offers integrated housing, commercial space and extensive amenities.

Separately, the city is preparing to roll out a digital platform for granting permits and collecting fees for temporary sidewalk use across all districts. After a pilot in An Đông, the system has processed over 50 applications, allowing users to apply, pay and receive permits online, reducing paperwork, costs and enforcement issues. The model is slated for replication in other wards, aiming to improve management of public space and generate revenue for maintenance.
