Ho Chi Minh City reports 10% weekly rise in dengue fever cases

Ho Chi Minh City has reported a 10.5% increase in dengue fever cases during week 34 (August 17 to 23, 2026), with 1,250 new cases recorded. This brings the total number of dengue cases in the city to 28,270 since the beginning of the year. High incidence rates per 100,000 residents were noted in An Nhon Tay, Chanh Phu Hoa, and Minh Thanh.

During the same period, the city recorded 1,028 cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease, representing a slight increase of 0.8% compared to the previous four-week average. The cumulative total for hand, foot, and mouth disease this year has reached 31,383 cases. High-risk areas for this disease include Con Dao, Binh Khanh, and Hiep Phuoc.

Health authorities have issued advisories urging residents to take proactive measures. To prevent dengue fever, citizens are encouraged to eliminate standing water and cooperate with medical staff on prevention efforts. To combat hand, foot, and mouth disease, officials recommend frequent handwashing with soap, sanitizing toys and surfaces, and monitoring children for unusual symptoms.
