Ho Chi Minh City schools face parental disputes and food safety concerns

Two separate incidents involving school management and student welfare have drawn attention in Ho Chi Minh City.

At Nguyen Khuyen High School, dozens of parents were prevented from entering the campus for an annual meeting because they arrived after the scheduled start time. The school had closed its gates to ensure security and order following a general meeting with the school board. Local authorities from Phuoc Thang Ward intervened to maintain order and facilitated discussions between the school administration and several concerned parents to stabilize the situation.

Meanwhile, at Ho Van Long Secondary School, the school has temporarily suspended its boarding meal service following multiple reports regarding food quality and safety. Parents have raised concerns over several days, citing issues such as sour soup, meat with unusual odors, and a specific instance where fried chicken wings were reported to be undercooked. In response, some parents are bringing home-cooked meals for their children, while others are picking their children up to eat at home during the midday break.
