Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance clarifies unemployment insurance rules

The Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance agency has clarified regulations regarding the preservation of unemployment insurance contributions that exceed the 144-month threshold.

In response to an inquiry from a citizen, P. V. G, who sought to preserve one month of unemployment insurance from a separate social insurance book, the agency cited Circular No. 15/2023/TT-BLĐTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs. According to the regulation, while contributions between 36 and 144 months can be preserved if not used for benefits, any contributions exceeding the 144-month limit are not eligible for preservation.

Consequently, the agency determined that the individual's additional month of contributions could not be preserved under current legal frameworks.
