Ho Chi Minh City strengthens regional cooperation with northern provinces
Ho Chi Minh City is strengthening its role as a regional leader by deepening cooperation with several northern and North Central provinces of Vietnam. This strategic partnership, spanning provinces such as Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, and Hue, aims to transition from event-based coordination to a more substantive model based on specific programs, projects, and value chains.
Between 2023 and 2025, the collaboration facilitated 22 regional events and 98 bilateral activities across sectors including trade, investment promotion, tourism, agriculture, science and technology, culture, education, and health. For the upcoming 2026-2030 period, the focus will shift toward creating competitive tourism products and integrating regional advantages. Ho Chi Minh City will leverage its strengths in markets, finance, technology, and services, while the partner provinces contribute through production, infrastructure, logistics, and unique cultural resources.
