Ho Chi Minh City strengthens ties with Indonesia and Thailand
Ho Chi Minh City and Indonesia are working to deepen bilateral ties through cultural, educational, and economic cooperation. During a reception celebrating Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day, officials highlighted the comprehensive strategic partnership established between Vietnam and Indonesia in 2025 as a foundation for future growth.
Nguyen Loc Ha, permanent vice-chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, identified Indonesia as a key partner in trade, investment, tourism, and the marine economy. Potential areas for expanded collaboration include logistics, green growth, innovation, and the halal industry. Cultural exchanges, such as musical performances by Vietnamese and Indonesian students, continue to strengthen people-to-people connections.
Additionally, Ho Chi Minh City is positioning itself as an active bridge in strengthening ties with Thailand, maintaining long-standing partnerships in trade, investment, and education.
