Ho Chi Minh City targets 10% alley expansion via land donations

Ho Chi Minh City has issued Directive 18 to encourage residents to voluntarily donate land for the expansion and upgrading of local roads and alleys. The city aims to expand at least 10% of its total existing routes and alleys by 2030, with a specific priority placed on narrow alleys measuring under 2 meters in width.

This initiative focuses on improving transportation infrastructure, urban renewal, and enhancing fire safety in high-risk areas. The city administration emphasized that land donation must be voluntary, transparent, and compliant with legal regulations, strictly prohibiting any coercive or formalistic implementation. Authorities are also tasked with reviewing support policies for residents who are significantly impacted by these expansions to ensure their legal rights and interests are protected.
