Ho Chi Minh City tide control sluice nears completion

The Tan Thuan tide control sluice, a major component of a nearly 10,000 billion VND flood mitigation project in Ho Chi Minh City, is entering its final stages of construction. The project aims to control tidal flows from the Te Canal to reduce flooding on Tran Xuan Soan Street and surrounding residential areas.

As of August 2026, many key components of the project have reached over 90% completion. Construction efforts are being accelerated with the goal of finishing the work by December 31, 2026. This infrastructure is one of six large tide control sluices being developed to address long-standing flooding issues in the city.
