Ho Chi Minh City to build dedicated container road linking Cát Lái–Phú Hữu ports to Ring Road 3 and highway

Ho Chi Minh City plans a 6 km dedicated container road that will connect the Cát Lái‑Phú Hữu port complex directly to Ring Road 3 and the TP.HCM‑Long Thanh‑Dầu Giây highway. The project, budgeted at about VND 8.8 trillion, is slated to start in the fourth quarter of 2026 and be completed by the end of 2028.

The new lane will separate container trucks from existing urban streets such as Nguyễn Thị Định and Võ Chí Công, which currently handle up to 26 000 and 40 000 container movements per day respectively. By diverting traffic to the dedicated corridor, the city expects to cut travel times from 45–60 minutes to around 10–15 minutes, lessen congestion and improve safety, following models used in ports like Rotterdam, Singapore and Shanghai.
