Ho Chi Minh City to host Friendship Dialogue 2026 on logistics and innovation

Ho Chi Minh City is set to host the Friendship Dialogue 2026 (FD 2026) from September 10 to 12, focusing on the theme “Local Diplomacy: A Driver for Innovation and Sustainable Growth.” The event will involve nearly 40 international delegations and partners.

A key highlight of the dialogue is the proposed establishment of a multilateral mechanism for seaport development. This mechanism aims to allow cities and local authorities to exchange expertise, share information, and coordinate on common issues regarding seaport management.

The program includes a Mayors' Conference on September 11 to discuss the role of local governments in national foreign policy and urban diplomacy. Additionally, specialized sessions will address cooperation in innovation and logistics. The city aims to leverage these connections to attract investment, facilitate technology transfer, and develop high-quality human resources in sectors such as digital transformation, maritime economy, and smart urban technology.
