Ho Chi Minh City uncovers 20 more war hero remains at Lê Thị Riêng Park

On 13 July 2026, authorities in Ho Chi Minh City reported the recovery of 20 additional sets of war‑hero remains at Lê Thị Riêng Park, raising the total identified there to 69 individual remains and one collective set. The finds follow earlier work that, as of 11 July, had uncovered 49 individual remains and a collective set in the same area.

The search, led by the city’s Military Command, involves careful excavation, documentation of artefacts and DNA sampling in partnership with Military Hospital 175 and other agencies to confirm the identities of the fallen. Party officials, including Deputy Party Secretary Nguyễn Phước Lộc, visited the site to lay wreaths and commend the teams for their diligent and respectful work, emphasizing the political and ceremonial importance of returning the heroes to their families.

The operation is part of a broader 500‑day campaign to recover and identify missing soldiers, with further excavations planned for 14 July and continued DNA analysis to match remains with relatives.
