Ho Chi Minh City universities face high competition for 2026 admissions

Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training data show that more than 17,000 candidates have applied to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2026 intake, competing for just 2,746 slots – a ratio of over six applicants per place. The university will assess only the 2026 high‑school graduation exam results and will not use scores from previous years.

The University of Technology and Education reported nearly 83,000 applicants for 8,500 regular slots across 39 programmes and 1,000 international partnership seats, averaging about ten candidates per seat. The University of Economics and Law received over 20,000 applications, also yielding a competition ratio above six to one. Cut‑off scores for 2025 ranged from 17 to 24.5 points, with logistics and supply‑chain management programmes requiring the highest marks of 24.5.
