Vietnam prepares for the 2026-2027 academic year

Vietnam is preparing for the 2026-2027 academic year through various regional and national initiatives. Educational authorities are focusing on infrastructure improvements, school network restructuring, and student safety. In Hanoi, a significant reorganization is reducing the number of school entities by over 50 percent while adding approximately 1,800 classrooms to maintain capacity.

Regional efforts include infrastructure development in border areas like Da Nang and flood recovery in provinces such as Lai Chau and Quang Ninh. Support programs are also active, with Bac Ninh providing over 11 billion VND in scholarships and supplies for disadvantaged students. In Quang Tri, significant investments are being made to modernize facilities.

However, challenges have emerged, including the sudden closure of the PennSchool international school branch in Ho Chi Minh City on the first day of school due to building reclamation, causing distress among parents who had already paid tuition. Additionally, health officials are advising on hygiene practices to prevent the spread of infectious diseases as students return to group settings.
