Ho Chi Minh City unveils modern smart bus shelter on Pasteur Street

On 26 July 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Centre piloted a new generation bus shelter on Pasteur Street in the Saigon Ward. The compact design uses a distinctive blue colour and incorporates several smart features: real‑time LCD route displays, LED lighting, night‑vision signage, CCTV cameras, and both USB and Type‑C charging ports for passengers.

The shelter is an upgraded version of the earlier N03 model, optimised for narrow sidewalks and limited space. Local users praised the youthful look and added convenience, while some suggested further improvements such as multilingual information panels, additional charging stations, stainless‑steel seat dividers, and a water‑vending machine. The city plans to assess other suitable locations and expand the new shelters across the network, complementing the free‑fare policy that covers 134 bus routes until the end of 2026 and the ongoing construction of canopy connections to Metro Line 1 stations.

Since the free‑fare scheme began on 1 July, more than 6.3 million rides have been recorded, a 38 % rise from the same period in 2025, indicating strong public uptake of the upgraded public‑transport infrastructure.
