Ho Chi Minh City urged to lead Vietnam in technology and innovation

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung has called for Ho Chi Minh City to serve as a pioneer in testing and spreading new technological models, products, and working methods to support national institutional development.

Speaking at the Ho Chi Minh City Technology Day (Conviction 2026), organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Communications and Electronics Association (EIC), the discussions focused on blockchain, digital assets, and artificial intelligence (AI). With over 80,000 digital technology companies currently operating, Vietnam is establishing digital technology as one of its fastest-growing economic sectors.

Deputy Prime Minister Dung emphasized a collaborative approach to growth: the State should create institutions and essential infrastructure; research institutes and universities should focus on technological mastery and human resource training; and businesses must act as the central pillar by investing in research and development (R&D) to commercialize products. He also noted the importance of financial institutions and international partners in providing the resources necessary to bring advanced technologies to market.
