Hokka Hokka Tei reduces large rice portion prices

Hokka Hokka Tei, a Japanese takeout bento chain, has announced a price reduction for its large rice portions effective September 12, 2026. The company is passing on savings from lower rice procurement costs to its customers.

Under the new pricing, a single large serving of rice will decrease from 240 yen to 220 yen. Additionally, the surcharge for upgrading a bento meal to a large rice portion will drop from 50 yen to 30 yen.

The chain uses a 100% domestic rice blend known as ‘Aijou-mai’ and emphasizes freshness by ensuring rice is milled within one week of delivery. The price changes apply to various regions across Japan, including Kanto, Tokai, Kansai, and Kyushu.
