Hokuto Matsumura drama ‘Kokuhaku’ to air series finale

The Nippon TV love-suspense drama ‘Kokuhaku: 25-nenme no Himitsu’ (Confession: The 25th Year Secret), starring Hokuto Matsumura, reaches its series finale on September 19.

In the final episode, titled ‘I Have Loved You for 25 Years,’ the protagonist Sota Yukimura (Matsumura) discovers that the true culprit behind the death of Kyoko—the mother of his long-time crush Mariko Nose (Saie Okazaki)—was the detective Taisuke Sakura (Tetsuji Tamayama). Sakura, who was 18 at the time of the incident, had staged the death to look like a suicide.

As Sota attempts to protect Mariko from the truth and the danger posed by Sakura, Mariko is simultaneously unsettled by secrets revealed by her father regarding her stepmother. The episode follows Mariko as she heads to Sakura’s studio, unaware of his twisted obsession with her, leaving Sota’s 25-year unrequited love hanging in the balance.
