Holaluz clears disqualification proceedings by Spanish Ministry

The Spanish energy company Holaluz has announced that the Ministry for the Ecological Transition has agreed to close and archive the disqualification proceedings initiated against the firm on July 16.

The proceedings included two main components: the potential termination of Holaluz’s authorization to operate as an electricity retailer and the potential transfer of its customers to other reference providers. With the resolution, all provisional measures previously adopted against the company are now void.

The dispute originated from claims by three suppliers regarding approximately 4.4 million euros in unpaid invoices. Holaluz maintained throughout the process that the issue was a temporary discrepancy regarding the enforceability of specific invoices, which were part of a managed treasury system and a pre-established payment plan. The company stated that these invoices have been fully settled and that it remains current with all its financial obligations. The official resolution is expected to be published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on August 29.
