Holaluz regulatory dispute resolution
Overview
The Spanish energy company Holaluz successfully resolved disqualification proceedings initiated by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition. The proceedings, which began in July, threatened the company’s authorization to operate as an electricity retailer and posed the risk of transferring its customers to other providers.
The dispute centered on approximately 4.4 million euros in unpaid invoices from three suppliers. Holaluz argued the matter was a temporary discrepancy regarding invoice enforceability within a managed treasury system and maintained that all financial obligations had been settled.
Following the Ministry’s decision to close and archive the proceedings, all provisional measures against the company were voided. Consequently, Holaluz shares rose by more than 11% upon the resumption of trading on the BME Growth segment.
