Carnival Corporation announces major cruise fleet reshuffle for 2029

Carnival Corporation has announced a major fleet reshuffle involving its brands P&O Cruises, Cunard, and Holland America Line, scheduled to take place in 2029.

As part of the realignment, Cunard’s Queen Anne will transfer to P&O Cruises following the completion of her 2028/29 World Voyage. Before joining P&O, the ship will undergo an extensive reimagining and receive a new name. This move will reduce Cunard’s fleet to three ships: Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth.

Simultaneously, the Arcadia will leave P&O Cruises after more than 20 years to join Holland America Line. The addition of the Vista Class ship will expand Holland America’s fleet to 12 vessels and increase capacity by over 2,000 guests. The Arcadia will also be integrated into the Holland America Evolution program, a multi-year investment in ship upgrades.

Paul Ludlow, president of Carnival UK, P&O Cruises, and Cunard, stated that the decisions reflect a long-term view of the company’s portfolio, ensuring each ship’s strengths align with the specific guest demands and future directions of the respective brands.
