Holtec Nuclear Corp files US IPO to fund small modular reactor program
Energy firm Holtec Nuclear Corporation filed a Form S‑1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on July 10, seeking to list shares on Nasdaq and Nasdaq Texas under the symbol HNUC. Underwriters include J.P. Morgan, Guggenheim Securities, Goldman Sachs and Citigroup.
The company plans to use IPO proceeds to advance its SMR‑300 small modular reactor program, expand manufacturing capacity and support other growth initiatives. Holtec, founded in 1986, supplies equipment to more than 140 nuclear plants worldwide, manages spent nuclear fuel and is leading the restart of the Palisades nuclear plant in Michigan. The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded about $400 million to build two SMR‑300 units at the Palisades site.
Holtec posted a net income of $17.8 million on revenue of $165.3 million for the quarter ending March 31, 2026, compared with $25.4 million net income a year earlier. The filing comes amid a broader surge in energy‑sector IPOs driven by rising electricity demand from data centers, electric vehicles and cryptocurrency mining, and a U.S. government push to quadruple nuclear capacity by 2050.
