Homberg‑Caßdorf house fire rescues six pets

A fire broke out in the upper floor of a residential building on Am Haspel street in the Caßdorf district of Homberg, Germany. Firefighters from seven nearby municipalities, a total of 69 personnel, contained the blaze after it threatened the roof structure. The incident caused damage estimated in the mid‑five‑figure euro range; the resident was unharmed and was not present at the time.

Six animals – three dogs and three cats – were saved after a witness secured them in an apartment below the fire zone. A German Red Cross rescue team stood by, and the police continued a criminal investigation into the cause of the fire.
