Home battery pilots and retail expansion aim to ease Dutch grid congestion

HomeWizard and grid operator Enexis have launched a pilot program in Limburg, Netherlands, to address increasing grid congestion. The initiative tests how the use of plug-in batteries can alleviate pressure on the electrical grid, which faces peak demand issues due to the rising use of electric heating, cooking, and vehicles.

In a related commercial development, Albert Heijn has begun selling the Anker SOLIX Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro through its advantage shop. This modular home battery system uses lithium iron phosphate technology and can be expanded up to 15 kilowatt-hours. The system includes a P1 dongle to read smart meter data, allowing for automated charging during solar surpluses or at optimal times based on dynamic energy contracts. The battery is designed for both indoor and outdoor use and features an integrated aerosol fire suppression system.
