Honda achieves first five-star FIA Road Safety Index rating
Honda has become the first automotive manufacturer to achieve a five-star rating in the products and services category of the FIA Road Safety Index. The achievement was officially announced at the Monza Circuit in Italy during the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
The FIA updated its methodology, expanding the scale from three to five stars to require more rigorous audits regarding safety culture, strategic planning, and continuous data monitoring. To earn the top rating, Honda underwent comprehensive audits of its operations across 17 countries, including Japan, Brazil, the United States, and China, which represent over 90% of its global sales.
The evaluation focused on corporate management processes, including long-term strategy and the global management of accident data. Honda’s corporate goals include reducing traffic fatalities involving its vehicles by half by 2030 and aiming for zero fatalities by 2050.
