Honda and BYD announce new vehicle market expansions

Honda has announced plans to introduce its large SUV, the Passport, to the Japanese market in the second half of 2026. The vehicle, which features a 3.5-liter V6 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, is noted for its wide body measuring 2,017mm, exceeding the width of the Toyota Land Cruiser 250. The lineup includes the off-road focused TrailSport series, which has accounted for over 80% of Passport sales as of June 2026.

In separate automotive news, BYD is expanding the international availability of its small electric hatchback, the Racco. Originally intended for the Japanese Kei car market, the right-hand drive model is now slated for sale in Sri Lanka and Macau. The Racco offers two battery options, providing a WLTC range of either 210 km or 320 km, and features practical design elements such as electrically operated rear sliding doors and a flexible interior capable of providing over 1,300 liters of boot space when seats are folded.
