Honda moves electric scooter production to Vietnam

Honda announced that it will start assembling its UC3 electric scooter at the company’s plant in Phú Thọ, Vietnam, from September. The move shifts the production line from Thailand to Vietnam in response to a faster‑than‑expected shift by consumers toward electric two‑wheelers, rising fuel prices and Hanoi’s newly implemented low‑emission zone that restricts gasoline scooters on weekends.

The initial output will be limited as Honda tests the market, targeting a price below 30 million VND. Dealers are already installing CHAdeMO charging stations to support the UC3, the only model using this standard in the country. Honda expects many households to keep a gasoline scooter while adding an affordable electric model, and it plans to launch a next‑generation electric scooter next year.
