Honda patents driver‑focus ADAS to limit in‑car alerts

Honda Motor Co. has filed a patent for an advanced driver‑assistance system (ADAS) that selects which hazards to display based on the driver’s gaze. The system uses vehicle‑mounted sensors to assess surrounding traffic and a driver‑monitoring camera to determine whether the driver has already looked at a potential obstacle. If the driver has observed a vehicle in a blind spot, the ADAS suppresses that alert and instead highlights the most immediate risk, aiming to reduce information overload and keep the driver’s attention on the road. Honda says the approach could improve safety in dense urban traffic and high‑speed highway conditions by presenting only the most relevant warnings and avoiding driver distraction caused by multiple simultaneous alerts.
