Honda prices UC3 electric scooter far below Thai market to boost Vietnam sales

Honda has launched the UC3 electric scooter in Vietnam at a net price of 56.5‑58 million VND after a 22 million VND discount, compared with the Thai market price of 132,600 baht (about 106 million VND). The lower price results from the ASEAN‑Thailand‑India Growth Area (ATIGA) agreement, which grants a 0 % tariff for models with at least 40 % local content, and from Honda’s decision to forego profit margins to gain market share against domestic leader VinFast.

The Vietnamese UC3 comes with a 1,200 W fast charger, while the Thai version includes a 450 W charger, reflecting differences in charging‑infrastructure development. The scooter is equipped with a 6 kW motor, a top speed of 82 km/h, a 3.174 kWh LFP battery offering up to 120 km per charge, and can recharge from 0‑100 % in four hours using the supplied charger. It also supports public CHAdeMo fast‑charging stations.

Early sales reports indicate strong consumer interest, with some dealerships reporting that inventory was sold out shortly after launch. The pricing move is part of Honda’s broader strategy to expand its electric‑vehicle footprint in Southeast Asia.
