Honda Racing Corporation announces new MotoGP rider development programs

Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has announced the launch of the ‘Honda Racing School & Scholarship’ program, scheduled to begin in the 2027 fiscal year. The initiative aims to strengthen the development of next-generation riders for top-tier categories, specifically targeting the MotoGP class.

The program focuses on providing young riders, aged 14 and older, with early international racing experience in Europe. The pathway is designed to move talent from Moto4 through the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship and Moto2 European Cup, eventually leading to the Moto3, Moto2, and MotoGP World Championships. To support this, HRC will introduce a scholarship system to subsidize a portion of the participation costs for entry-level categories.

In parallel, HRC is reportedly in advanced negotiations with the MSi Moto2 team to further its talent development strategy. This potential collaboration could grant Honda influence over rider contracts within the Spanish-based team, potentially positioning current MSi riders like Iván Ortolá and Ángel Piqueras as candidates for Honda MotoGP seats in 2028.
