Honda reintroduces Prelude hybrid coupe after 25-year hiatus

Honda has officially reintroduced the Prelude nameplate to the market after a 25-year hiatus. The new generation is a hybrid coupe designed to balance the model's historical emotional appeal with modern electrification strategies.

Built on the Civic platform, the new Prelude utilizes an e:HEV powertrain. This system combines a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with two electric motors, producing a maximum output of approximately 184 to 200 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque. To maintain a driver-focused experience despite the lack of a traditional manual transmission, Honda introduced the ‘S+ Shift’ technology. This feature uses steering wheel paddles to simulate the sensation of gear changes, including rev-matching, and works alongside Active Sound Control to enhance engagement.

The first unit of the Prelude Advance configuration was delivered in Portugal in late July, featuring a Moonlit White Pearl exterior and beige leather interior.
