Honda revives classic CB400 Super Four with new E-Clutch technology
Honda has announced the revival of the classic CB400 Super Four, a model that has been a staple of the Japanese motorcycle market since 1992. The new version features Honda’s latest ‘E-Clutch’ technology and has undergone significant weight reduction, weighing 14kg less than its predecessor.
The revival is partly attributed to growing demand in the Chinese motorcycle market, where interest in naked-style motorcycles has increased. This market activity, alongside the popularity of the CBR500R, helped drive the development of new 400cc and 500cc platforms.
In addition to the CB400, the evolution of Japanese super sports motorcycles is highlighted through the historical development of flagship liter-class models from Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki. These machines have transitioned from the high-performance impact of the 1992 CBR900RR to modern iterations utilizing advanced electronic controls and racing-derived technology.
