Honda to debut next-generation hybrid CR-V in 2027
Honda is accelerating the launch of its next-generation hybrid system, which is expected to debut in the seventh-generation CR-V. According to reports, the new mid-size SUV is scheduled to enter production in Canada in February 2027, followed by manufacturing in Ohio and Indiana in March.
The new hybrid drivetrain is projected to be approximately 10 per cent more fuel-efficient than the current 2.0-litre system and roughly 30 per cent cheaper to produce. These vehicles will also utilize a new mid-size vehicle architecture that is reportedly about 90kg lighter than the current platform used for models like the Civic and CR-V.
In addition to the CR-V, Honda Thailand is expected to begin producing a new three-row hybrid SUV, known as the Avancier, in early 2027. The new hybrid technology is also anticipated to be integrated into other upcoming models, including the HR-V, which may follow in 2028.
