Honda to launch next-generation Vezel with Honda Hybrid technology after 2028

Honda has announced plans to release a next-generation Vezel compact SUV in 2028 or later. The upcoming model will feature the company’s new “Honda Hybrid” system and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

As part of its 2026 business update, Honda is reallocating development and production resources toward hybrid vehicles to meet strong market demand. The new “Honda Hybrid” technology, which builds upon the existing e:HEV two-motor system, aims to reduce costs by over 30% compared to 2023 models while improving fuel efficiency by more than 10% through a new platform and electric AWD units.

The Vezel remains a critical driver for Honda’s domestic SUV sales in Japan. The company plans to roll out 15 different models utilizing the new hybrid technology and platform to global markets, including North America, by fiscal year 2029.
