Honda to refresh Civic and Accord models with new hybrid platform

Honda is preparing significant updates for its sedan lineup, with the next-generation Civic and Accord expected to debut around 2027 or 2028. Both models are anticipated to utilize a new hybrid platform designed to improve fuel efficiency by approximately 10%.

The upcoming Civic is expected to feature a lighter platform, potentially reducing weight by up to 200 pounds and offering all-wheel drive (AWD) capabilities. While design details remain speculative, the new Civic may move toward a more modern aesthetic compared to current conservative models.

The Honda Accord is slated for a major redesign in 2027, shifting toward a more sporty fastback silhouette. This redesign aims to provide a more dynamic driving experience. A key technical addition will be the S+ Shift technology, which uses motor sound and torque mapping to simulate manual gear shifts, addressing the perceived lack of engagement in traditional CVT transmissions.
