Honda Vietnam sees automobile sales plunge while motorcycle sales rise
Honda Vietnam reported divergent business results for August, characterized by a significant decline in automobile sales alongside growth in the motorcycle segment. Car sales dropped to 1,001 units, representing a 56% decrease compared to the same period last year and a 53% decline from July.
Experts attribute the slump in car sales to high market supply relative to demand, intense price competition from new brands, and seasonal factors, specifically the seventh lunar month when consumer demand typically slows. To stimulate demand, Honda has previously implemented various promotions and registration fee support for models such as the City, BR-V, and HR-V.
In contrast, Honda’s motorcycle segment saw a 7.8% year-on-year increase in August, with 166,721 units sold. However, this figure reflects a 7.2% decrease compared to July’s sales volume.
