Honduran auxiliary nurses threaten protests over labor demands
The National Association of Auxiliary Nurses of Honduras (ANEEAH) has announced potential protests and the possible occupation of the Government Civic Center. The union's president, Josué Orellana, cited a lack of political will and failure to meet labor demands from the government, the Ministry of Health, and the Civil Service.
Key grievances include the reassignment and reclassification of auxiliary nurses, unresolved labor conditions, and the lack of approval for nursing technicians. Orellana also highlighted a critical staffing shortage, stating the health system requires the hiring of more than 3,000 auxiliary nurses to strengthen patient care. Additionally, the union noted that while 106 nurses were transferred, some have been reintegrated, yet over 350 available positions remain unfilled.
