El Paraíso receives major infrastructure and health investment
During the ‘Congreso en tu Ciudad’ mobile legislative session in Danlí, the Honduran National Congress announced a massive investment package for the El Paraíso department. Total proposed investments for infrastructure, health, and basic services are estimated between 3,200 million and 3,700 million lempiras.
A major highlight is the approval of a project to build a four-story clinic for the Instituto Hondureño de Seguridad Social (IHSS) in Danlí. This project, which has been pending for 34 years, aims to improve medical specialty services for the region. Construction is tentatively targeted to begin in 2028.
Other legislative actions include motions to improve potable water access in several municipalities—requesting 50 million lempiras for topographical studies—and a request for 1,500 million lempiras to support coffee producers. The broader infrastructure agenda includes road paving, bridge construction, rural road rehabilitation, and electrification projects across 19 municipalities.
