Honduran Congress opens first regional office in San Pedro Sula

The National Congress of Honduras has inaugurated its first regional office in San Pedro Sula, located in the Universidad neighborhood. This new facility aims to decentralize legislative attention and reduce the need for citizens, mayors, and business leaders in the Cortés department to travel to the capital, Tegucigalpa, to address legislative matters.

The office will host representatives from all four political parties active in the department: the National Party, the Liberal Party, the Social Democratic Innovation and Unity Party (Pinu-SD), and Liberty and Refoundation (Libre). Legislative leaders, including Congress President Tomás Zambrano, indicated that the move is intended to address regional demands regarding infrastructure, employment, security, health, and land legalization.

In addition to providing a space for direct citizen and municipal management, the Congress announced plans to hold periodic legislative sessions within the Cortés department to further increase the presence of the legislative power in the northern region.
