Honduran ex‑Congress president Luis Redondo seeks court order to access investigation file

The legal team of former Honduran National Congress president Luis Redondo announced it will file an amparo petition before the Supreme Court of Justice to obtain the investigative file held by the Public Ministry. Attorney Juan Fernando Molina said the Ministry has repeatedly denied access, arguing that Redondo does not have the formal status of a suspect and therefore the documents are not required to be disclosed. The defense claims this refusal violates Redondo’s right to a proper defense and hampers preparation for the pending accusations. An August 7 hearing is scheduled for preliminary proceedings, during which an expert will be sworn in as part of the case.

The move underscores ongoing tensions between the former legislator’s legal team and state prosecutors over transparency in the investigation.
